Unusual Everett/Seattle Area Routing?

$

Hi All, I'm looking to see if anyone else in the Tacoma/Seattle/Everett area of Washington state is experience unusual routing. From what I can tell, all my traffic is that is being routed down to California in the South Bay area (Great Oaks) then back up to Seattle. This is adding some latency to the connection that use to never be there. This is happening with all IPv4 traffic. Anyone else in the area seeing this?

Hello, I am livestreaming television using Firefox browser on comcast. I get a lot of freezing/pausing during the stream and I was wondering if there is anything I can do to alleviate this situation. I am on the blast tier 100/10 and I am hardwired to the router.

[Rant] Install cancelled because of mud

My sister ordered Xfinity service on 2/22 with a Install date of 2/25 between 1-3PM. The tech showed up at 1:42PM and came inside and looked around. I told him the house has no cable line from the house to the pole. He went it the back yard to look around. He comes back and tells me he needs to talk to me outside. I walk out the front door and he said he refuses to do the install. He didn't want to get his ladder dirty or the wire. I told him I'd help him because I could careless if I get dirty. He said no and he walked away. He was an ADI contractor for Xfinity. I called xfinity and bitched about this pos contractor that wouldn't do the work. So another tech is scheduled for 3-5pm. Then I found out the rep didn't place the order for the right service on 2/22. So I had to get the bundle packaged fixed to what my sister wanted. Now the install time was cancelled because of the changes. Have to comeout another day.

[Speed] PIA VPN slowdown after speed increase.

Anyone using private internet access PIA have you noticed slower VPN speeds after the speed increase? Ive spent hours trying to figure this out and Ive dealt with slowness on VPN but not consistent and not on every server i connect to. I even ran PIA speed test for particular PIA server that is slow and its fine when im on comcast but on VPN its 60-80Mbps Ive tried everything and only thing that works is I changed my mac address on my router and rebooted modem so Comcast would give me new IP after this my speeds on VPN were fine again but once i disconnected VPN or rebooted computer slower speeds came returned https://i.imgur.com/oEvHGv4.png Also this was posted in PIA forum pretty much same problem but on different provider and PIA support even said looks like throttling. https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/forum/discussion/30955/is-spectrum-throttling-pia

[Equip] Is the Motorola 6141 no longer supported by Comcast?

I've seen these were EOL a while back, but should still work unless they just stopped allowing this device to get internet from them. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and do I potentially need to go modem shopping? Internet is apparently fine on Comcasts end; However my modem is not connecting to Comcast despite resetting the device many times and redoing the connections. Thank you!

[Business] Arris SB6141 and IPv6

Does anyone know if Comcast is doing IPv6 PD on business connections using the Arris SB6141 modem? I have a legacy Netgear from the trial days still hooked up and running my IPv6 but would like to simplify my setup a bit.

I just received this email from Xfinity, and I am wondering if it is a valid offer. I currently subscribe to Xfinity's triple play tier, and I am using my modem for the internet side of the plan, it is an SB8200 modem and so far I have not had any problems with it. And my wifi for all of my equipment seems to work fine and at the rated speed that I am paying for. Is this a scam or does Xfinity send out emails without checking their records to see what the customer has as far as the equipment on their service?

[Connectivity] Drastic increase in disconnects.

I have been getting a drastic increase in disconnects since the first of the month. Affecting both HSI & phone. I have Business Class and tech support seems to be aware of the issue. They will not state what it is or when it will be resolved. I made a post to the direct forum to see if I could get any further clarification. At over 25 disconnects in 19 days I getting a bit fed up. The disconnected last 5 min. to 40 min. It does not help the most are in the middle of the day. Several have happened in the middle of a phone call. Any thought on to what could be the cause of it?

For those with Comcast Gigabit, do you have unlimited data?

$

Quick math tells me that if you were to download at 125mbs/second (1000/8), you'd hit Comcast's 1TB/month cap in about 2.22 hours. For those with Comcast Gigabit, do you also have the unlimited data add-on? If not, why do you have the Gigabit plan? Why not get the cheaper plans since you're going to hit your cap so quick if you were to max out your line?

[Speed] Comcast 250 has been 160 since 3-15

Grain Valley, MO I've had no issues, save the occasional service interruptions, for quite a while. Last Thursday I noticed a slowdown, and started running tests. They all averaged about 160Mbps, and downloads that had been ~35MB/s were now 20MB/s. I have always used my own modems, and am currently running a Netgear CM600 V1.01.14. Strength and noise are always goo, and continue to be. Testing was done with 2 different ethernet cables, directly from modem to two PCs. I called support last Thursday, who did the usual signal strength test and such. A service call was scheduled, then at the end he convinced me to upgrade to gigabit. The service call was cancelled in favor of an installation. I cancelled the gigabit order when the guy showed up and told me that I'd have to use the XB6 forever, which contradicted what the support person had said, but that's another story. He went to the box in the back yard and replaced the end (which had fixed a similar, but more drastic problem a while ago). Same result. He tried the XB6 that he'd brought with him, with the same result. I called support again yesterday and scheduled another service call. That was this morning. He looked at signal strength, showed me a graph on his handheld, and said there was nothing he could do. I asked him to cast a wider net and check node stats. He said he could check "timeline", but said there weren't any issues and there was nothing he could do. At this point I'm as sure as I can be that the problem is not in the house. The cable goes from the Comcast box to a box on the side of the house, where there is a simple couple then a straight shot to modem and TV box (which was isolated during testing). Here is a speedtest result. It is a laptop with ethernet to the router, because I have to be able to use the lights and doorbell for a while. The results are identical when wired directly to modem. Upload has always been as it was, at around 30Mbps. Testing in updated Firefox, with Chrome giving the same result. http://speedtest.xfinity.com/results/JEZRHBC6C6QYNF4

Switched 6183 to 8200 and connection seems more "volatile"?

Internet-only account shows "HSD Performance 55" in my Xfinity pages. The drop from the utility pole was cut outside by the dickhead DirecTV installer to connect his dish many moons ago. A Comcast installer put a barrel connector there when I re-upped and the line goes direct to the modem. Overall, connection/speed tests have been consistently reliable, for about 18 months on the 6183, moved to the 8200 about a week ago, got it provisioned in chat. Correctables/uncorrectables on the 6183, typically, would increase in installments, as if random events, like maintenance, put the modem through some changes. I kept some screenies to try to see a pattern. Of course, the error count is zero right after rebooting. The errors can start accumulation within a couple of hours or they might stay at zero for more than a week. [att=1] Again, overall, there haven't been any internet showstoppers to speak of but the behavior of the 8200, with maybe 3 spontaneous reboots in the first week, has got me scratching my OCD. The power and SNR look very good, to me, and I mention the errors as I see others reporting errors that typically stay at 0. High uncorrectables and sluggest connection - SB8200 / Comcast

When I try to go to a website it takes at a minimum of thirty-seconds just to get to the web page. Then, another couple of minutes to load the entire page contents. I contacted Comcast and they did a modem reset, but no fix. Basically, the Comcast first tier support just read from a script and because I own my own modem, there's nothing they could do. I personally think it's a filter or line problem other than my own house wiring. Modem model is an Arris SB8200. My modem was just reset a couple of days ago, and here's the status of the modem....any suggestions? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Channel ID Lock Status Modulation Frequency Power SNR/MER Corrected Uncorrectables 32 Locked QAM256 657000000 Hz 5.6 dBmV 42.9 dB 184 335 1 Locked QAM256 471000000 Hz 4.4 dBmV 42.4 dB 538 856 2 Locked QAM256 477000000 Hz 4.3 dBmV 42.1 dB 488 688 3 Locked QAM256 483000000 Hz 4.3 dBmV 42.5 dB 510 690 4 Locked QAM256 489000000 Hz 4.4 dBmV 42.5 dB 482 666 5 Locked QAM256 495000000 Hz 4.4 dBmV 42.4 dB 445 604 6 Locked QAM256 507000000 Hz 4.5 dBmV 42.5 dB 486 674 7 Locked QAM256 513000000 Hz 4.4 dBmV 42.5 dB 397 644 8 Locked QAM256 519000000 Hz 4.2 dBmV 42.3 dB 372 629 9 Locked QAM256 525000000 Hz 4.1 dBmV 42.4 dB 478 714 10 Locked QAM256 531000000 Hz 4.2 dBmV 42.3 dB 358 649 11 Locked QAM256 537000000 Hz 4.3 dBmV 42.6 dB 379 599 12 Locked QAM256 543000000 Hz 4.4 dBmV 42.5 dB 374 674 13 Locked QAM256 549000000 Hz 4.4 dBmV 42.6 dB 386 587 14 Locked QAM256 555000000 Hz 4.5 dBmV 42.4 dB 288 588 15 Locked QAM256 561000000 Hz 4.7 dBmV 42.6 dB 379 614 16 Locked QAM256 567000000 Hz 4.8 dBmV 42.6 dB 325 637 17 Locked QAM256 573000000 Hz 4.9 dBmV 42.8 dB 310 608 18 Locked QAM256 579000000 Hz 4.8 dBmV 42.5 dB 332 611 19 Locked QAM256 585000000 Hz 5.0 dBmV 42.7 dB 349 567 20 Locked QAM256 591000000 Hz 5.2 dBmV 42.8 dB 274 545 21 Locked QAM256 597000000 Hz 5.3 dBmV 42.8 dB 314 559 22 Locked QAM256 603000000 Hz 5.5 dBmV 42.9 dB 301 623 23 Locked QAM256 609000000 Hz 5.6 dBmV 42.9 dB 286 650 24 Locked QAM256 615000000 Hz 5.6 dBmV 43.1 dB 268 591 25 Locked QAM256 621000000 Hz 5.7 dBmV 42.8 dB 267 627 26 Locked QAM256 627000000 Hz 5.8 dBmV 42.9 dB 300 552 27 Locked QAM256 633000000 Hz 5.8 dBmV 42.9 dB 214 574 28 Locked QAM256 639000000 Hz 5.8 dBmV 43.0 dB 264 664 30 Locked QAM256 645000000 Hz 5.9 dBmV 43.0 dB 247 663 31 Locked QAM256 651000000 Hz 6.0 dBmV 43.1 dB 222 610 29 Locked Other 717000000 Hz 6.2 dBmV 40.5 dB 8712 0 Upstream Bonded Channels Channel Channel ID Lock Status US Channel Type Frequency Width Power 1 4 Locked SC-QAM 38700000 Hz 6400000 Hz 39.8 dBmV 2 2 Locked SC-QAM 25700000 Hz 6400000 Hz 38.5 dBmV 3 3 Locked SC-QAM 32300000 Hz 6400000 Hz 39.3 dBmV 4 1 Locked SC-QAM 19300000 Hz 6400000 Hz 38.5 dBmV

[Connectivity] 2 modems? 2 IP addresses?

My current set-up has an Arris TM602G (from Comcast), which was added to my setup when I added Voice to get full triple play. It's only for voice, as I also have a SB6121 modem which I own. Now, the Voice modem has an ethernet port which shows active, but not usable. I plugged in a laptop, see the IP address, but can't use it to connect. Now, Comcast is showing that I should update this voice modem. And I assume it will run the Xfinity WiFi. My question - If I accept this new modem, will I have access to the second IP address? If the modem is active, will it function as a second line?

[Plan] New Customer Pricing?

My spouse and I are considering reorganizing how we delegate household expenses and I may assume responsibility for the comcast account. I'm wondering if I would I be eligible for "new customer" pricing and if a changeover from her name to my name would result in any disruptions to my home network. I suppose comcast might charge a "new account" startup-fee or something like that? Is it possible to do a seamless transfer from one family member to another and save money in the process?

I'm posting this here. Feel free to chime in if you live in the area. Periodically I will post updates. I just did a factory reset of my modem to clear out all previous issues and start fresh. This is a screenshot from around 2:20 or so. Do the signal levels look good to you guys? They look pretty good to me, considering where they've been in the past. If there are changes I will add to this post. Not going to bother with the event log since it only has provisioning info. However, I did take a screenshot of it. Oh, and DSL reports speed test: Not QUITE the speeds I am looking for, but no complaints. I will also test elsewhere. EDIT: Testing elsewhere yielded similar results. Hard to interpret. No other devices being used, but tons of devices hooked up. (1 smart phone, 2 smart TVs, both powered off. Google Home, etc.) I suspect it's more on Comcast's end though, but it's not super high priority for me, as long as they work through it. I may also purchase a new router. This one has done 945 down before, but it is an AC-68U and I've been eyeing a good quality high end netgear nighthawk....either that or build my own Pfsense box.

[NodePlus0] General Discussion of N+0 deployment activity

I would like to start a thread where we can keep track of the areas where Comcast has started deploying N+0 equipment. Earlier this year Comcast started pushing fiber deeper into the neighborhoods around me but close to 10 months after it was strung/buried it is still sitting unspliced and unlit. The comcast plant in my area is an old Adelphia region that is built on a 750MHz architecture so it's due for upgrade but it appears as if comcast is stalling on these upgrades for some reason. Has anyone else noticed any aggressive node splits and/or amplifier reduction in any other markets?

New DPC3941B Software 3/21/2018?

I got set up with a DPC3941B during a business service move last weekend. Sometime last night or this morning, it received a software update to version dpc3941b-v303r20421761-180309a-CMCST. I don't know what version it had before. I haven't looked at it extensively since the upgrade, but I do notice that the "At a Glance" page now shows three options for bridge mode: "Full", "Pseudo", and "Disable", whereas before this was only an enable/disable option. I'm curious; did anyone else receive this software update recently? Or was I just behind because my DPC3941B was only recently put into service?
