Is there any way around rate centers for voice?

$

I've had a Verizon landline for 24 years at the same location in Maryland with the same number. I want to switch to Xfinity Voice and upgrade my TV/Internet to Triple Play, keeping my same phone number. Xfinity says my number is in a different rate center than where I live, so they can't port my number over. Like many in my town, I pay an extra monthly fee for a number assigned to an adjacent town to allow me to call Baltimore toll-free. What confuses me is that a coworker in the same town has a number in the same exchange and switched to FIOS with his existing number, so Verizon can port the number but Xfinity can't. Has anyone ever heard of someone switching to Xfinity in a different rate center, or know of some way (secret magic word?) to make this happen? Thanks!

[Equip] Keep renting Cisco DPC3939 or not, suggestions.

Hi, I got somewhat peeved off at the recent price changes to my service. So I changed my service and looked for other ways to cut the price. Yeah that darn rental fee for how many years now? So I purchased a tg862 because I need the telephone service. Well I found out this thing blows, I am spoiled by the WIFI on the 3939(no legal way to purchase). the TG862 has very poor range and slow connections compared to the 3939. In fact some devices with built in antennas like my IMAC just one room over is not usable. I also have so many wireless devices that the TG862 gets very slow, 1 Mbps slow on the wireless like it just does not know what to do. I never had this problem before. I was thinking about buying something like a TP‑LINK Archer C7 AC1750 Wireless Router and putting the TG862 into bridge mode. I am sure that will solve my connection range issues but I do not know if this setup will be as good as the Cisco DPC3939 for all my devices as it has always worked flawlessly. Do I keep spending money on more equipment or just pay the $10 rent? Wired connections as about the same on both devices, 120 Mbps.

I got an 1682G as a replacement for a cisco 3941 emta. Is this a better or worse emta? Also is there a better emta in as far as signal wise? Like where the wifi signal reaches further than the 1682?

as fios completes deployment in smithsburg,md 10 miles from me and rolls out gigabit internet. now another isp Antietam cable just 11 miles away is now deploying gigabit internet as well comcast continues to slack and overcharge the area. comcast has lost 5 counties surrounding my area and is now a vital spot for fios to take over next. comcast needs to get their head out of their ass and quickly deploy gigabit to adams and franklin counties in PA. before townships decide to suspend your contracts and go with fios or antietam. as a cheaper better solution for a quickly growing populated area. york county pa xfinity was banned and fios was deployed. only a matter of time till muni and townships begin to see that xfinity is not a decent provider for the area. 80% of the area have switched to directv aka at&t Centurylink for 2017 can now go out of business as well as their internet is no longer broadband or even a valid dsl service. it violates fcc law 2017. anything slower than 50mbit is NOT BROADBAND NOR HIGH SPEED. comcast 10mbit tier now violates fcc laws. comcast performance 25 now violates fcc laws. cmon comcast time to match other providers do it like this 50/10=19.99 100/20 29.99 150/20 39.99 200/20 49.99 300/30 59.99 1000/40 69.99(matched with cox, google, rcn)

[Equip] Gigabit Modem and is it Bridgeable?

So I upgraded my Blast service to Gigabit and the tech is to come out tomorrow to install a new modem. Currently I am using an Arris TG862 that is in bridge mode and an eero system for the DHCP/WiFi. I would like to use the eero exclusively and bridge the modem, is this possible? Which modem do you think they would be bringing out? I am doing only a double play (TV/HSI).

have the 6183 modem, around 4 months ago they added a fourth upstream channel which was 17300000 Hz frequency.had 4 upstream channels for around 4 months, then today noticed a bunch of logs showed up checked and now only have 3 upstream channels they removed the 17300000Hz frequency channel.my upstream power was always 43dBmV.the last couple of days there were outages in my area and i did see the bucket truck in my area a couple of times.my question is if i only see 3 upstream channels now i guess that means they removed one?now only have 3 upstream channels all still at 43dBmV.

Comcast throttling CBS All-Access?

So I signed up for the trial today on my Fire Stick 2 and it was buffering every 15 seconds. I switched to my FTV1 over Ethernet, still buffering. So I decided to try using my VPN and low and behold, it hasn't buffered once since I connected. Full HD with no artifacts at all. Has anyone else noticed this? I'm tempted to try it on FXNow as well because that's another one that buffers constantly. It's not a DNS issue since my router uses OpenDNS and I've completely disabled IPv6 on my router so there really shouldn't be any problem. I'm kind of perplexed. My VPN service is fantastic but having a connection go from Denver to Dallas to wherever CBS' servers are back to Dallas and back to Denver should create problems, not fix them.

[Equip] Retail Arris TM822G(eMTA) Now Available on Amazon(edit: pending)

Not sure if this has been posted already, but figured I would mention it for those who weren't aware. EDIT: It appears that this was put up prematurely by Amazon based on later posts. It seems that the retail Arris TM822G Comcast 'kit' is now available on Amazon for the price of $149.99 compared to the gateway(TG862) version for $199.99 . https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KVOKVYY/ It seems like it became available on the 9th or so. The box includes - - TM822G - One short and one long coax cable - Ethernet cable - Power cord - 2 way splitter You don't seem to get the battery included. There is currently only one TM822G listed on the approved list at the moment(A.K.A. no 'retail' version listed), so it may cause some problems. Edit: See page 3, it is now approved for retail purchase. It doesn't seem like there are any other higher spec retail eMTA devices at the moment sold by Amazon for Comcast, sadly(unless I missed it). In other news, there is also a new 32x8 AC1750(no voice) Arris SBG7580AC gateway available as well for $229.99 . It is currently pending approval on Comcast. https://www.amazon.com/SURFboard-SBG7580AC-Docsis-AC1750-Router/dp/B01KW9T39C

[Equip] Dual gigabit WAN, load balancing, wireless AC 3200+ router?

Is such a wireless router going to be out soon? Xfinity is moving to Docsis 3.1 in my area and is going to be rolling out the their gigabit service here soon. I assume they will provision the 1Gbps to be slightly more than 1 Gbps. I also assume they will offer a 2Gbps tier using Docsis 3.1 soon. The Arris SB8200 will be shipping soon and the box images show certified for Xfinity. It has two 1Gbe ports. Hopefully it will support 2Gbps in a load balanced mode. Is there a sub $1k option for making use of 1-2Gbps WAN bandwidth? If I have to go the pfSense+wireless AP route, does anybody offer a prebuilt power efficient setup with dual 1Gbe WAN ports and 7-8 1Gbe LAN ports? I currently have a Netgear R7500. Is there a way to change one of the LAN ports to a WAN port on it? If yes how does one add load-balancing?

I reside in Rome, GA and have the Internet Essentials / Performance Starter tier. The issue I am having is constant and I am not sure if it is a modem issue (Netgear CM400) or a router issue (Linksys E2500 v3). I have also swapped out the Linksys E2500 v3 for a TP-Link TP-Link TL-WR841ND v9 also running DD-WRT and the speed issue is still the same. The desktop wireless adapter is a Netgear N150 with the latest software update and using the NETGEAR WNA1100 Genie. The NIC is a Killer E2200 Gigabit Ethernet Controller. With both I have tried static DHCP and dynamic DHCP. I have confirmed the modem has the correct firmware per the Comcast site, V1.01.16. Various speedtests from around the US indicate I am getting the correct performance for the tier I have. I have run these tests at various times throughout the day and night and on various days as well. I have used IE 11 as well as Firefox 50.1.0 with and without add-ons enabled. All Windows updates have been installed. I typically run Malwarebyes Pro 10 and Comodo Internet Security Pro but had uninstalled them. Only Windows Defender is installed and I have had it enabled and disabled with no positive impact on this issue. In all instances the speed is spot on regardless of the computer I use. Here's the issue. I am only getting 1\1 on both wired and wireless from my desktop (Windows 7). I also have a laptop (Windows 10) which I attached to both routers using wired and wireless. The TP-Link has been flashed with DD-WRT firmware. It is the correct version for this router or else it would be bricked. :) The cable leading to the modem comes through from the outside directly to the modem. From the entry point to the modem is approximately 4'. The Ethernet cord from the modem to router is about 1' long. From the router to the hard-wire NIC is about 12-18" long. The wireless NIC is about 1 foot from the router. I have used both and still only get 1/1. The a couple of the attachments have the modem logs attached. I forgot to note which router I was using for each document however I believe all but Netgear CM400 r3 was the Linksys E2500 v3. I factory reset the modem between r2 and r3. The download speed went from 1024 KB to 385 KB. :( I have also been seeing a lot of Comcast and XFinity truck crew in the surrounding neighborhood. Usually seen in pairs. The lines are on poles but in the this housing allotment there are no poles. Avantare

[Connectivity] splitter effect on signal stats

$

In 2013, a Comcast tech replaced my Ubee with an Arris modem and installed a terminated splitter to get good power levels. [att=2] Since, I've used a 5341j and, now, SB6183. I've been using that same splitter but downstream no longer centers on 0 dBmV. I only look occasionally but it seems to always be around +7 and errors accumulate. For fun, I took that splitter out. The 6183 synced up quickly but DS power went up. [att=1] So, the splitter is helping but I wonder if something different could make for better signal stats, fewer errors.

Anyone else having issues with comcast site/app? I got an email went to check it on my phone, saying something about finish setting up my account. Which makes no sense as I've had service for years. The app was freezing, tried from the PC just now and saying it can't load the site.

[Plan] What is this "online acceptance" for a verbal contract?

(MOD NOTE: I checked with Icarus about starting this NEW thread) My horrors with a new 2-year contract seem to just keep escalating. Back on 12-28-16 I called Customer Loyalty and was given a new 2-year contract for Double Play (Blast HSI and Digital Preferred TV). After several days of not getting anything to show up on My Account under Legal Agreements, I called (a) Customer Loyalty; and (b) Billing. Both assured me I have a valid contract and reiterated the terms. Also, they said it was a technical issue as to why the contract didn't appear. I posted here about it ; also in Direct since it was a technical glitch about appearing in Legal Documents. They were finally able to get me an emailed contract. I had also posted on the Xfinity forum. Now today, I received a PM from the Xfinity forum that I have to sign an "online acceptance" form for the contract to be valid. What is going on? This link is for Voice but they said it was for ANY service. Below is the link. https://www.verify (dot) istonish.com/LOA/Web/Authentication.aspx I am so stressed out I can't see straight. Any help will be most welcome. I really don't want to have to take this up with the MI attorney general's office. Thanks!

[Business] Convert Comcast Business contract to Residential?

$

I'm considering signing a 3-year contract with Comcast Business for internet/phone. The early termination fees are very steep, 75% of the remaining value of the contract. Two sales reps told me that instead of paying the fee, it was an option to switch to Comcast residential service, and if it's at the same address and you keep the residential service for a year, the ETF would be waived. For a three-year contract, this could be a useful option if I want out after one year. Reading through the terms and conditions, there is no mention of this. I asked the agent about this, and he said that's right, it's not in the contract, but it's a courtesy they offer. Has anybody ever done this successfully? I know that if it's not in the contract, they could always screw me. But just trying to figure out if they are pulling the wool over my eyes, or if this is something they really do for people sometimes.

[Equip] New England - Speed Upgrade - Modem question

$

Hi all, Quick question -- For the Blast upgrade to 200mpbs downloads, is anyone receiving this service using a Motorola SB6141? Wondering whether the 8 downstream channels will be sufficient. I inquired to Comcast via chat, the guy I spoke with indicated the answer is "no". I tried the Comcast certified modem list, but it doesn't reflect the current speed structures (as best I can tell). I haven't received the speed upgrade yet, and was wondering if my modem is the reason. I'd been hoping to wait on buying a new modem until DOCSIS 3.1 was available, so looking to see what the experiences here have been with my modem. Thanks! --Grimmwit

What will happen if add a service to my cart and submit my order?
