It seems the wifi part of the xfinity router is failing. I can't get over 60mbps on my 100mbps connection. I have rebooted all devices including router, make new connections. No improvement. Even if any device is next to the router.

[CustSvc] Where can I see *ALL* of Comcast's Bundled/Single-Plan Features?

I can't believe how difficult this is! Is it too much to ask that Comcast offer a Consumer-Accessible Features Comparison Chart (or PDF)? I just signed up with Comcast (or is it "XFinity" ? totally confusing  ) with your lowest-priced internet-only cable plan. I can't locate a chart or table (or PDF) listing all of the HSI/VOIP/TV options in one consolidated page/file. I don't do drop-down menus (or, not while I'm shopping in any event) and I just want to compare the plans. I might want TV, I might not. I might want to upgrade with VOIP . . . or I might not. DSLR . . . do you guys have one (or know of one)? Preferably more recent than Mesozoic? Thanks.

Odd issue with SB6183/Blast service in Boston

So this started happening about 7-10 days ago almost right after I dropped TV from my triple play package and went internet only. The backstory: 2 month old SB6183 purchased myself Apple Airport 80211AC model Xfinity Blast! 150 down/10 up Have been getting great speeds with this combo, usually no less than 130ish down, off peak sometimes 160-180 down. About 10 days ago, I noticed things seemed to drag a bit so I used speedof.me to do a speed test. 34/12 average. I lived with it for a few days thinking it was just a small issue and would fix itself. It hasn't. Tech came for an in-house visit Sun morning the 20th, said that when they removed my TV package my modem had been disabled, and he was sure that was the issue (it seemed odd to me that a disabled modem could still provide service at all, but I went with it), yet after getting it reenabled, and running a speed test straight from his laptop, he was having the same issue, after a reset of the network and a re-provision of the modem, he was still getting 34ish down and 10ish up. He figured that there wasn't much else he could do, put the problem down as customer equipment being the issue then left. I then called Arris customer support, and they of course said that comcast was at fault based on the reading from the modem's status page, and her recommendations after my reading her the numbers from my status page were as follows: Adjust the downstream power closest to zero without fluctuations Downstream SNR needs to be 30 or greater with no fluctuations Upstream power needs to be below 47 This is a bit above my pay grade so I have no idea if she is correct or not, and I also do not know if comcast can actually do what she is recommending based on all the other clients on my street/neighborhood, node capacity, other factors... A couple of hours later I went to best buy and purchased a NEW SB6183, and plugged it in, called comcast to get it provisioned, and the exact same issue is happening. I did this just to rule out my modem being defective. Here is a screenshot of my modem status page as the time of this post, approx. 11pm on Sunday the 20th. They are supposed to be doing two things next. The first is sending a truck out to check the connection/signal at the pole, the second is to send a "special tech" out who can do more than the first guy who came out this morning. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening out of the blue with no hardware changes and the only thing somewhat major happening was dropping tv from my account and going internet only? MANY thanks in advance! Scott

[Speed] Issue with SB6183 and Extreme 105+

I'm in South Florida and have been subscribed to Extreme 105 service for a while now. I received an email from Comcast in August stating that my speeds would be increasing soon (yay!), but that I needed a new modem to take advantage of the upgrade as my old SB6120 was end-of-life. I figured that after a few years, there was no harm in getting a newer/more future-proof modem, so I bought a new SB6183 a few days later and self-activated it without issue. When I ran a speed test (always the Comcast test), I noticed that I was only getting about 85-92 Mbps down, whereas with my SB6120 I had been getting anywhere between 105 and 124 Mbps. Finding this odd, I reconnected the 6120 and ran the same speed test, and was immediately getting in the expected range again (in this case, 107-110 Mbps). I hopped on to the Comcast tech support chat system and brought up the discrepancy with the hopes of seeing if perhaps there was some sort of configuration problem with the modem. The rep was courteous and understanding, but she literally told me - quoting from the transcript I saved - "Just a heads up, your old modem is better than your new one. I suggest that you rather swap it and go back to your old cable modem..." That's definitively not the case, and considering it was an email from Comcast that encouraged me to buy a new supported modem despite my old one working fine, it's pretty frustrating to be told that. The rep checked my signal strength and such, and said everything was "green" and "functioning well." Clearly something is up, so I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations as to what could be causing the speed discrepancies. A couple of notes: 1. During my chat session and the speed tests, my modem was connected directly to my computer so as to eliminate any potential issues occurring between the modem and my router. Regardless, the results are the same whether the router is in use or not. 2. I ran the [beta] test at http://speedexperience.comcast.net and everything checks out as okay except that, under the modem, it says that "Your modem's connection to your device cannot support your current speed tier." It recommends replacing the ethernet cable with a gigabit-capable cable, however I'm using a Cat 6 cable regardless of which modem I have connected, and the older modem still performs better than the new one. I also can't run this same test when the SB6120 is connected to compare results, as the test errors out (it probably only tries to connect to the 6183). I can post the signal strength and such of the new modem if anyone thinks it would help. Thanks to all!

Thought some people here might be interested in seeing a node out of its usual environment of hanging from a pole, or in a vault underground. Here is the node that just so happens to be on the same floor of the building as my apartment. This is an Aurora-now-Pace-now-Arris something something 4000 node. [Price] Reconsidering

Reconsidering moving back to Comcast for Internet service...it seems that no matter what route I take, they don't want to bundle TV with the 150 meg package via chat or phone. They can give me 75 meg and the 45+ channel TV package with X1 and Showtime for 49.99/12 months, but said if I want 150 meg internet, I need to get a triple play package, or buy 150 meg for $78.95 standalone and a tv package starting at 39.99 for 12 months...am I missing something? Last week I saw the 45+ tv package with X1 and 150 meg internet for 79.99 for 12 months, now its gone. I know there has been a lot of posts about packages changing come october, so I wanted to jump in before its impossible to get. Not sure why they want to shove triple play down everyones throats, it looks great on their end, but in all reality with cell phones and what not, I don't have any intentions of using the CDV portion.

[CustSvc] Local updates?

I'm wondering if there's a place a user can subscribe to a 'local updates' part from Comcast. For example, any kinds of new things going on in the area, a technical person can get notification about. Things that come to mind... - Channel increase from 8 to 16. - DOCSIS 3 to 3.1 update - Node upgrades These are things that normal people probably don't care about, but it would be really nice to know things that are occurring in the area so we can take advantage of them.

[Speed] Speed issues

Since the speed upgrade I've been having issues with the speed bottoming out. Downstream can get to .75 Mbps with normal upstream. Reset the modem and router everything returns to normal for a couple of days and then the speed starts to drop out again. Switch the iOS devices over to LTE they work fine, I should verify by connecting the devices to my mobile hotspot but I can pretty much blame it on a comcast issue at this point. What are some things to start troubleshooting on. The signals all look to be in range (average -0 signal levels, SNR 37 to 40 on the bonded channels), I did recently swap a DVR for an X1 Client (it's a little box with no component inputs, about the size of a DTA). Modem is a 6183. Router is an Netgear Nighthawk R8000. At this point I DO NOT want to purchase or rent another modem. I want comcast to fix their system. I'd like to know how to troubleshoot so I can get Comcast to fix their equipment without blaming my equipment. -- Xfinity X1 Awesome Product Comcast: Buy out the Iowa cable market from Mediacom so my friends can experience X1

[Speed] Speed upgrade/new modem (6141)...& same speeds

$

I always feel so goddamned frustrated every time I get involved with Comcast. It's the same old story: They email me that speeds have been upgraded in my part of Maryland and suggest I upgrade my modem. I hesitate but then fall into the trap and get a new SB 6141 to replace 6121. And voila, speeds are no different than before. I know this is a story that has been repeated often but I do not know where to begin (or even if I should). I have a Mac desktop and laptop and Apple router (Airport Extreme...about 3 years old. The speeds on the laptop, which is about 20 feet from the router are about 60/12 and the speeds on the desktop, which is on the floor directly above the router are about 50 (or less)/12. All this is functional but because I know it is supposed to be faster I'm at a loss for where to begin. When I set-up the new modem and connected directly to it with the laptop the speed rating was about 150 down!, but it is impractical for me to be wired directly to the modem. Can wireless degrade the speeds from 150 to 50? Any words of wisdom are appreciated. Thanks.

[Speed] I can hardly believe what i'm seeing.....

I'm literally speechless. I was posting in the zoom thread below about my areas recent upgrade to 150Mb Blast and trying to decide what to upgrade my modem to. I currently had a surfboard SB6121 and was getting great speeds....mid 90Mb level. And I figured well...here goes another useless upgrade. And so I was debating between the 8channel Zoom and 16 channel Arris and decided to go for the later...somewhat out of curiousity more than anything as to whether my system was now 16 channels. I hooked up my new modem just now. Took a while to get it activated online and when it came online I went and checked the modem page and sure enough, it's 16 channels. And then, I started surfing around ....more or less expecting to see nothing really different and all I can say is....was I in for a shock. I have never. Ever.....EVER....in my life. Been on a connection that feels this fast. Web pages are literally EXPLODING into view with virtually zero lag. And the really amazing thing is...this isn't about the speeds. I discovered today my computer is limited by a 10/100 Fast Ethernet connection and so I'm STILL getting "just" the mid 90Mb speeds. And I'm only left to wonder. What will I see when I change that and start to see the 180Mb speeds? I can hardly wait. This has got to be all about the transition from 4 to 16 channels and while the Speeds were there on the 4 channel surfboard for whatever reason the quality of the connection wasn't. But now..spread out across this entire 16 channel spectrum....90Mb is REALLY flying. Like nothing I have ever seen. Based strictly on my experience now, I'd really have to say to anyone that I'd just bypass the 8channel modems now. And definitely the 4 channels if you're in for an upgrade. This arris 16 channel modem is the absolute Bomb. I thought I couldn't be impressed anymore by upgrades and was I ever wrong. Nice job Comcast. And Arris. :) ~Rick

It seems like the TC8305C is still broadcasting WiFi even though it is in bridge mode. I am pretty certain I turned WiFi off before I put it into bridge mode. It does not appear have a HOME SSID but I think I have seen it as a hidden network. According to the modem log it keeps changing the channel. [Connectivity] Cable Modem dropping connection - help with DBC log entries

Hi all, I have Comcast 25/5 HSI in Clinton, MA. We've had two Comcast technicians out for an issue with our cable modem (Cisco DPC3939) intermittently dropping connection to the Internet, but the issue persists. Typically the modem will remain powered on but will lose Internet connection for roughly a half-hour (and this happens on average six times a day), but more recently it's been rebooting when it loses connection. Please see the log below. I'm especially curious about the DBC Send, ACK, Success, Complete entries, which I've never seen before. Does anyone know what these mean? They seem to show up every time it reboots. For the 16 Downstream Bonding Channel Values, the SNR is 40.366 to 40.946 dB. Power is 0.3 to 1.2 dBmV. Modulation is 256 QAM. For the 3 Upstream Bonding Channel Values, Power is 41.5 to 44.5 dBmV. Modulation is 64 QAM. Symbol Rate is 5120 KSym/sec. We have a Netgear wireless router plugged into the Comcast cable modem. WIFI networks (2.4 and 5 GHz) are active on both routers. I should also note that we have Comcast cable TV, and the TV picture will occasionally cut to black for a second or so. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 2015/8/28 18:41:59 Notice [Docsis][518]: DBC Complete - notifying DMG 2015/8/28 18:41:59 Notice [Docsis][518]: DBC Success 2015/8/28 18:41:59 Notice [Docsis][518]: DBC Ack received 2015/8/28 18:41:59 Notice [Docsis][518]: DBC Send Response 2015/8/28 18:41:54 Notice [Docsis][518]: DBC act request received, len: 481 2015/8/28 18:41:18 Notice [Dhcpc][1511]: erouter0 got new IP XX.XXX.XXX.XXX 2015/8/28 18:28:12 Notice [Docsis][550]: DBC Complete - [IPv6] SB6183 IPv6 problems

$

I had a perfectly running IPv6 config on my Zoom 5341J, routed through my Linux server, which looks like this: p3p1 (WAN) is accepting RAs and has a link-local IPv6 address only. bond0 (LAN) is allowing forwarding and is assigned a static IP from the /64 PD obtained on p3p1. DNSmasq is serving DHCPv6 and SLAAC, doing RAs on bond0. With the Zoom, the local Linux server, Windows machines, and mobile devices all passed http://test-ipv6.com perfectly, and quickly. With the only change being the SB6183, here is what I see: -Windows machines work fine and pass the test quickly every time. -The local Linux server and mobile devices sometimes pass and mostly fail, with no consistency. Furthermore, the tests are very slow to run, even if it does pass. When it fails, the errors are all over the place (no IPv6 address, large packet (PDMTU) failure, browser blocking test URLs, no direct IPv6 access, etc.) - I've seen combinations of them all! Anything IPv6 related done directly on the server works, but is very slow or stalls entirely (example - wget on http://download.thinkbroadband.com/1GB.zip, which is IPv6). DNS lookups via Comcast's IPv6 DNS are instant. Almost seems like an MTU issue somewhere along the line that Windows isn't having a problem with, which may also explain these in dmesg (lots of them): [22257.883035] Peer 0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:ffff:0c2f:ae63:49925/80 unexpectedly shrunk window 1023049849:1023051199 (repaired) [22259.075034] Peer 0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:ffff:0c2f:ae63:49925/80 unexpectedly shrunk window 1023049849:1023051199 (repaired) [22275.339033] Peer 0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:ffff:0c2f:ae63:49925/80 unexpectedly shrunk window 1023238849:1023240199 (repaired) I've tried just about everything I can think of and it's leading me to some problem with the 6183 - I've even completely disabled the firewall and all associated rules on the Linux server, and direct access from the server still fails testing. Any thoughts on this?

I recently was told I'd been upgraded from 75Mbps from the 50Mbps (downstream), but most speedtest sites other than Comcast's own show me still at ~50Mbps. The Comcast/OOKLA Speedtest site mysteriously shows ~70-75Mbps...who do I trust? DSLReports and http://testmy.net's established credentials, or Comcast's?

How much will the speed increase. Will it lower latency? And do they charge you for the new equipment?
