[WiFi] Rogue device shown in gateway/Hotspot question.
I typically have the hotspot feature for my home turned off for personal reasons, At times it will turn itself back on while doing a powercycle which I do understand can happen. After this occurs, within 24/48 hours of turning the hotspot off I will notice a phantom device that is showing in my gateway under devices. The device is not active nor does it show any usage for the device but it shows it was connected via wifi 2.4ghz. This has happened twice within the last 60 days and only occurs when I turn the hotspot feature off. I have WPA2 with a 26 character password assigned to both the 2.4ghz and the 5ghz band. I'm not saying it's not possible someone may have gained access to my network but I find it very unusual that this only occurs after I turn off the hotspot feature.

[Equip] FWIW-The Arris TG3482(XB6) Just Went Through FCC Testing
For whoever is interested, the TG3482 has just gone through FCC testing. This is Comcast's XB6 wireless gateway. As I mentioned in the past, this gateway limited Ethernet ports. The TG3482 has two Ethernet, two RJ-11 phone ports, and the obvious coax connector. It's DOCSIS 3.1 gateway, as many of you might already have known. It also includes a 8x8 wireless AC 5 GHz radio, paired with a 2x2 wireless N 2.4 GHz radio(kind of lopsided lol).
FCC testing mentions it has ZigBee as well as Bluetooth.
Maybe I'm missing something, but the testing doesn't mention 8x8 on the 5 GHz radio being tested though. It only seems to say that 6x8 was tested.

It also seems to support Thread.

[Signals] Side Discussion about 16, 24, 32 channel Downstream Bonding?
Mod Note: This thread is for side discussion of 16, 24, 32 channel DS bonding.
Since Comcast Supports Several Modems with 16x4 Bonding Capabilities, I was wondering If anybody out there with these modems on Comcast is seeing 16 channel DS bonding or at least more the 8channels bonded.
Mod Note: Please add reports if you have 16 or 24 channels downstream here -> https://secure.dslreports.com/forum/r29743167-Report-16-Downstream-Channel-Bonding-Here uid://455626

[Speed] I have new comcast 1gig ?
Hi. Can some one help me out. I have comcast 1gig down and 35 up service. When i do a speedtest at speedtest.net i get 940 to 980 down and 41 to 42 up almost consistently. When i do a speedtest on dslreports.com i get 340 to 399 down and 41 to 42 up. I have used gig/fiber and i have used cable speedtest it shows the same thing. How come speedtest.net shows 940 to 980 and dslreports only show 340 to 399?

[Speed] SB6141 speed reduction recently
I have had Blast Pro for several years and was usually getting over 200 Mbits on download. In the last several weeks I am now seeing an average of 150 Mbits. Comcast tells me that this modem can only go to 200 and according to their website it is unsupported. Is Comcast intentially slowing me down? I am located in Mountain View, CA.

[Signals] Opinion on these signals?
So I'm going to preface this post that I am not experiencing any service troubles yet...
I occasionally check my modem's signal/stats page because I find it pretty cool, and mostly just to see how things look. I check it enough to notice trends, and for a while my downstream power levels have slowly been trending downward. I'd say within the last month or so, the trend has picked up - perhaps because of the summer heat?
[att=1]
I live in an MDU, and each unit has two coax lines that come from a central area on the floor. I take the first line and it goes into my modem, the second goes into a splitter for the wall jacks.
Since I was curious, I took a peek at my neighbor's modem and it's looking pretty rough.
[att=2]
Again, not experiencing any trouble, but I have definitely noticed a slow downward trend over the years. Here's about 2 years ago when we got a new CMTS...
[att=3]
Any thoughts? I was curious if maybe I should post in Comcast Direct in the hopes of proactively having it looked into, but wasn't sure if I was at the point where it would do any good.
Thanks!

[Speed] Utah Gigabit
Most times I'm getting about 600mbps, very occasionally 700-900mbps. For gigabit should it 32 channels plus and OFDM or only 24 channels plus an OFDM? I am only bonding to 24 channels

Arris XB6 issues
A few days ago I had the xb6 installed with the gig service. I’ve had nothing but issues. Wifi drops. Completely disappears. Wired devices no longer have internet. This happens randomly throughout the day. Tried bridge mode into my Apple AirPort Extreme, wifi of course is now fine, but still loose internet randomly. The only way it comes back is if I completely power cycle the mode.
Comcast states it is passing signal tests etc. I am getting a replacement in the morning. Hopefully this fixes it, but has anyone else is having such issues. My service with my CM600 modem and the Apple extreme was rock solid for about 8 months. Not so much as a hiccup, now thing but troubles.
The xb6 is running the latest firmware as of today. It seems like to OS just crashes out, given that it doesnt seem to recover on its own.

[Price] Large additional fees on bill
Comcast is well known for tacking on all sorts of ridiculous fees, but as I've never personally been a Comcast customer, I wasn't aware how bad it was. My grandparents just moved and received a quote over the phone for a good TV package with all the regular channels, plus Starz and Showtime. They are getting 200/10 internet service, as well as unlimited phone. While those internet speeds are certainly much more than they need, $130 didn't sound bad.
Now when I took a look at the bill, there is another $40 of various charges added on:
HD Digital Preferred 220+ Channels
Blast!® Internet Blast!® Internet
XFINITY Voice Unlimited US & Int'l Calling
$129.99
Universal Connectivity Charge - $0.87
Regulatory Recovery Fees - $1.87
Regional Sports Fee - $5.00
Broadcast TV Fee - $7.00
---
Customer Owned Equipment - Owned
DVR Service - $10.00
DTA Additional Outlet Svc (HD) - $5.99
---
TV Franchise Fee - $5.56
TV FCC Regulatory Fee - $0.09
TV Sales Tax - $1.44
Voice 911 Fee(s) - $1.65
Voice State Sales Tax - $0.76
Fees $40.23
Total $170.22
I even helped them purchase a modem a year ago so that they could cut down on some of the cost, but it's crazy to see firsthand just how badly Comcast deceives customers. In this case their actual bill is 32% higher than what they were quoted for. I assume this is completely normal for Comcast but I just wanted to check because I'm pretty surprised this is legal.

Modem Shut Down and Reboot Loop
I have had very limited internet today. It works for about 5 minutes and then the modem goes into a shut down and reboot loop, sometimes for hours before it works again for a 5 minute window.
Log and signals are posted below. There are 5 log entries and they constantly repeat, so I am only posting it once.
Can anyone tell me what might be wrong? My internet has always worked great and there have been no changes to equipment or wiring.

[Equip] Good Replacement for the SB6190?
So I have learned the other day about the defective chip set in the SB6190 modems and well I'm now gonna return them to Amazon and get two new ones. Reason why I'm getting two is because I have two desktops in my household and Comcast said it was fine to have two modems on one account.
I have been looking at Motorola Model MB7420, but my only complaint is that its now as powerful as the SB6190. Is it a good modem or is there one just as powerful yet affordable like the SB6190.

[Equip] DOCSIS 3.1 modems -- What routers support WAN port aggregation?
I apologize if this is something which has been answered in other threads--but is there a consensus on what routers can support WAN port aggregation for speeds of 1Gbps and higher?
I see a few posts where people refer to dual gigabit WAN, but the router's manuals suggest this is traditional dual WAN in terms of failover not speed aggregation.
I'm shopping around to replace my Arris 6183 and Apple Time Capsule -- 1Gbps DOCSIS 3.1 is around the corner in my area and I'd like to make sure whatever HW I'm buying will actually support it. I like the Motorola MB8600 but it's not clear what routers would play nice with 2-4 port aggregation for WAN.
Thanks

[Connectivity] Arris SB8200 Activation Issues (Cisco CMTS)
I just got my new Arris SB8200 from Amazon yesterday. I am having a problem where it just keeps cycling through the downstream, upstream and internet LED indicator lights. I called Comcast twice they both said they don't even see the cable modem connecting to the system. Both times they insisted there was something wrong with the CM and to return it. So I'm doing that just to prove them wrong. I tried a number of things including not plugging in the Ethernet and power cycling the modem manually many times and let it sit for about a hour and a half cycling through. The modem is supported in our area on the Comcast device support page.
I was told in this thread (I am the Anonymous user) (http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r31304106-~time=1489503828?r=151#31304106) that it may be a problem with Cisco CMTS units (much like the Netgear D3.1 CM issues with the CM1000's). I Verified and the CMTS Mac address is indeed Cisco owned. Though I'm not sure what model I am on. There was a mention that someone named "netcool" on these forums has a fix (http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r31303566- & http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r31303256-) (I'll try PMing netcool also). Is there anyway that can be applied in our area also? Or is there a way I can call Comcast and not get level 1 support that can fix this issue?
UPDATE: My issue was resolved by the workaround the user "netcool" applied to my area's CMTS. Latest info is there are plans for a more permanent fix in the works.

[CustSvc] Dear America's Most Hated Company -- Cease and Desist!
My Business Class Internet contract with Comcast was scheduled to terminate on June, 6, 2017. I submitted Comcast's official service termination form on April 7, 2017, and Comcast both received and accepted that termination form on the same day. I have a receipt from Comcast's FAX service as well as an email confirmation that the service termination documents were received and accepted.
I paid the last bill for service through June 6, 2017 on May 31, 2017. However, I am still being fraudulently billed for service that should have been terminated on June 6, 2017.
I don't in any way subscribe to Comcast's often used excuse that Comcast is simply incompetent, and I don't know anyone with an IQ over 20 who truly believes that lame excuse either. If I continue to receive fraudulent billing (and or receive calls from Comcast bill collectors), I will be forced to file criminal fraud charges with the appropriate local and federal law enforcement agencies.
