[Signals] One Upstream Channel Missing

Hi all... just noticed an odd thing... one of our upstream channels is missing. They were all there on Labor Day when I bridged our Arris TG1682G to use our own router. Haven't tried a restart yet. Any ideas? Thanks!

Can you check my signals?

So I've been having some issues with connectivity - usually lose internet and phone for an hour or so, and seems to always happen on Mondays when I'm the busiest with work... Anyways, they came out and swapped out my 722G with a 1682G and I love the modem, but I've still had a few disconnects. I tried the customer experience app that was linked here, but sometimes when I do that, my phone goes wonky - when I pick up, it makes a very weird sound and I can't call out, and usually lose the internet too, so I have to reboot the modem anyways. The signals looks "off" to me - but I've never had this many channels before, so I'm not sure if it's really an issue or not.

[IPv6] SB6183 IPv6 problems

I had a perfectly running IPv6 config on my Zoom 5341J, routed through my Linux server, which looks like this: p3p1 (WAN) is accepting RAs and has a link-local IPv6 address only. bond0 (LAN) is allowing forwarding and is assigned a static IP from the /64 PD obtained on p3p1. DNSmasq is serving DHCPv6 and SLAAC, doing RAs on bond0. With the Zoom, the local Linux server, Windows machines, and mobile devices all passed http://test-ipv6.com perfectly, and quickly. With the only change being the SB6183, here is what I see: -Windows machines work fine and pass the test quickly every time. -The local Linux server and mobile devices sometimes pass and mostly fail, with no consistency. Furthermore, the tests are very slow to run, even if it does pass. When it fails, the errors are all over the place (no IPv6 address, large packet (PDMTU) failure, browser blocking test URLs, no direct IPv6 access, etc.) - I've seen combinations of them all! Anything IPv6 related done directly on the server works, but is very slow or stalls entirely (example - wget on http://download.thinkbroadband.com/1GB.zip, which is IPv6). DNS lookups via Comcast's IPv6 DNS are instant. Almost seems like an MTU issue somewhere along the line that Windows isn't having a problem with, which may also explain these in dmesg (lots of them): [22257.883035] Peer 0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:ffff:0c2f:ae63:49925/80 unexpectedly shrunk window 1023049849:1023051199 (repaired) [22259.075034] Peer 0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:ffff:0c2f:ae63:49925/80 unexpectedly shrunk window 1023049849:1023051199 (repaired) [22275.339033] Peer 0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:ffff:0c2f:ae63:49925/80 unexpectedly shrunk window 1023238849:1023240199 (repaired) I've tried just about everything I can think of and it's leading me to some problem with the 6183 - I've even completely disabled the firewall and all associated rules on the Linux server, and direct access from the server still fails testing. Any thoughts on this?

new neighbor on Comcast reduced our performace

We had really good performance with Comcast. Until a new neighbor came on-line (the house was previously not with Comcast). I am not sure what to do / how to pursue getting attention from Comcast or where to begin the conversation. The call center shrugs me off. I replaced the splitter and things improved / stabilized, but it is still not what it was. I am not totally clear on the FAQ about what is good / bad/ borderline. [att=1]

Comcast tech vs, CM100 modem

We lost our Comcast HSI ~8pm on a week day. The Linksys CM100 cable modem would have solid up- and down-stream lights, ~ 39 dB SNR on ds, but "online" light would flash continuously and it would not get a DHCP lease from ISP. Since we needed internet to do school work, I spend more than an hour chatting to various Comcast technicians. They would say that the modem will not work anymore for being obsolete and I need to lease one from them for $10/month. That got me a bit upset since there was not a single notice from Comcast to us about anything on that nature but the monthly bills before dropping the connection. Then next morning the Comcast HSI would connect and work just fine with this CM100 modem. I suspect that there was a technical issue upstream that got fixed or fixed itself. What should I do now? Replace the modem anyway? Keep using it? Switch providers?

[Bill] Online payment not recognized

Wondering if anyone else is having issues with the Comcast online bill payment recently ? My October bill populated with amount due of $113.xx. As I always do, I rounded up and paid $114. Imagine my surprise to find (a) a notice that I had made a PARTIAL payment; and (b) not showing a dinky credit balance as it has in the past. Paying more than owed is "partial", lol ? Debit card shows the payment and I received the online notice of payment. But logging back in, still shows the $113.xx balance owing. Wonder if Comcast is dinking around with the system, or ...... ? Anyway, thanks. -- RIP, "Daphne": 3/12/05 - 6/19/12.

[Speed] Slow speed over wireless. Any ideas?

So, I have two routers a Nighthawk and Cellspot. Currently only the Netgear and our XB3 are being utilized. They, however, perform very poorly over wireless (10mbps at time) despite pumping out 120+ over ethernet. Uploads always steady at 10. Speeds are even slow when standing right next to one of the routers or the gateway. Already had a tech come out and check signal levels which are good. However, he had no clue what to do. Any ideas?

[Install] Newish installation.

To give a little insight my girlfriend had Comcast in her name a week ago until she got so fed up with the CS she cancelled and paid the last bill. I can't stand ATT or WOW so I signed up for new service. I inspected the wires outside my home and noticed I had a mixture of RG59 and RG6 cables out and inside the home, as well as a 2 way splitter going in and another 2 way splitter at my door splitting what was the Internet and DVR. Knowing how the service was before she cancelled (dropped signals 8 feet away from the router) I decided to literally take down all the wires. Needless to say the installer out a new tap, RG6 cables around the home and inside and my box now looks something like the picture I'm attaching. Should I be in pretty good shape now? Or am I going to have to call them to come out and put a spitter or something in? If needed I can screenshot some tests as well as channel tests.

[Plan] Radio commercial - Comcast Business 25mbps for $69.99

While listening to ESPN 1000 (local sports station in Chicago) yesterday (9/30) during commercials time there was a Comcast Business commercial claiming 25mbps for $69.99. It surprised me so I listened closely and at the end of it the guy said it again... 25mbps for $69.99... I get now 16mbps for $69.99 and that plan is still listed on the site. Does anyone else know anything about this? Will there be a plan upgrade? What about those of us on 16mbps? Do we get upgraded? Thanx a lot...

[E-mail] Need help w/email error, please

I use WindowsMail on Vista as my email client for my Comcast email accounts. One of my secondary email accounts just will not send or receive -- screenshot of the error is included. The OTHER email accounts (primary and 2 secondary) work just fine. I went into my Comcast primary account and changed the password for that one secondary account and updated it on my email client. NO JOY. Same darn error message. I'm hoping someone could help me out, please. Also curious as to why it's just this ONE secondary account that has the issues. THANKS !! -- RIP, "Daphne": 3/12/05 - 6/19/12.

[Speed] Comcast speeds

Hello DSL Reports I am in some great need of help regarding my issues with Comcast and the speeds provided to me. I currently have a Blast plan 105 download / 20 upload. I had this connection for 2 years now. In January I decided to drop the comcast modem for my own modem. I bough a Motorola SB6183 modem. Since then till now my speeds were amazing always solid no issues no fluctuations etc. Numbers I was getting 125 mbps download and 24 upload ... constantly. Since 2 weeks ago my upload speeds went the toilet. I cannot go above 8 mbps and usually they are in 4 to 5 range. I have been in contact with Comcast since last week. Last Tuesday night I had a chat with a tech at Philippines the guy knew what he was doing and he managed to fixed it. I was back to the normal speeds but 7 hours later the problem returned. Every single day I have been chatting and calling Comcast only to find that they always made me reset the modem reboot .. put the router directly to the pc and so on with no results what so ever. They decide to send a tech home which I did not wanted since I knew the problem was at their end since a guy in tech already fixed it and then the fix went away. Since I was getting desperate I kept calling and eventually ask them to send the tech. The Tech came yesterday to my house and checked the line.. Removed 2 splitters since I had 4. All looked green on this end and in the box he said. But while doing more speed test the problem continue with even lower speeds. He kept calling Comcast and they didnt knew what to do. He spent 5 hours at my house with no luck. So right now they are going to send another tech to my house tomorrow and we will take it from there but I have zero confidence on this step since I know at my end there is no issues. I wanted to shared this story here maybe someone can shed some light on this chaotic issue I am having. The Internet line the last 2 weeks have been a disaster. Some times is fast sometimes slow.. it changes every minute... Dont know what to expect tomorrow so any input or help highly appreciated.

[Connectivity] New Cisco DPC3941 Gateway Horrible Performance

When Comcast sent me this new gateway, did I just luck out and get a dog device? History.. Have the Blast! service with the Triple Play. Everything was trucking along fine while using the Arris 722g EMTA.. Internet @ 120mbps, no lag or latency of note.. Telco worked fine, crystal clear & no issues. THEN.. I start getting daily calls from Comcast all but demanding I accept a new gateway device - that the DOCSIS 3.0 device I was using is now obsolete and will stop working - because I guess of the Blast! speed increase to 150mbps. Whatever, so I finally relent and let them send the new gateway. When I got it and saw that it was a Cisco made device I was cool with it, because of my familiarity with Cisco devices on the enterprise level I figured this box should be good. BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZT BOY WAS I WRONG. First of all.. Telco sound quality is horrible. It sounds like an old POTS line with squirrel chew and water in the line. Static static static.. sometimes very quiet most of the time loud as hell. Incoming calls have been unreliable at best - sometimes a caller will get through but at least half the time they say it goes right to voice mail. Oh when this happens, when the caller does not hear a ring and the call goes to voicemail - on my end the phone will ring and ring and ring until the caller finishes leaving the message. Pick up the line it is dead, hang up it starts ringing again. Oh and it's hit or miss if the voicemail that's left is even saved. Internet.. it seems the only thing reliable with that is going to the Xfinity and speedtest.net speed test sites. I can go all day and get 150-190mbps download speeds - but the second I try to go to a regular website.. facebook, cnn, dslreports, it doesn't matter - I get the "waiting for xxx.xxx.com..." Sometimes it will time out sometimes the pages will load - slowly. Go back after to a speed test site and all is fine.. sub 20ms ping and super high transfer speeds. Streaming video? I do not know what that is anymore.. Ask me about buffering video, I have plenty of that. In fact it buffers so much I wonder if I have a Janitorial service instead of an Internet service.. If I want to watch a youtube video or any other video I have to download the damn thing in order to watch it uninterrupted. All Comcast support can do is suggest a reboot and or send a refresh signal to the modem. Don't even get me started on support. If Comcast wants to have people read from and strictly follow their script, at least hire people who can understand and speak in clear English. Oh and please do something about your scripted lines - after 5 minutes speaking with "technical support" I feel as if my IQ dropped 20-30 points. Anyway... I have replaced the cable connecting to the phone block, even replaced the ethernet cables - twice. Replaced the two way splitter several times as well and I even relocated the modem to where the drop off the splitter is now less than 3' long, along with the new drop new compression fittings were put on all the video drops.. I even redid the bonding and while I was at it I ran a new power drop so the modem is all by itself on it's own circuit. Verified no ground loop and zero voltage on any of the lines. Basically I re-worked or replaced everything I could past the demarc. I have two computers which are connected directly to the gateway via ethernet - the gateway is setup to be the router / firewall. Also have one laptop and several tablets that access via wireless. All see the same shitty network performance - except for the speed tests, again those work perfect- the only two sites that do seem to work. Prior to all of this, with the original EMTA, my network performance was fine. Setup was simple.. EMTA into an Asus Router then to all my computers. Speeds were fine, performance was near flawless. New setup, EMTA/Gateway to all my computers, performance on Internet and telco is absolutely horrible. Signal levels are fine.. [att=1] [att=2] [att=3] The logs show nothing of note. The only thing hinkey I see are with the Codewords.. across all 16 channels the numbers are all exactly the same.. the same # of unerrored codewords, the exact same # of correctable codewords and the exact same # of uncorrectable codewords.. that all 16 channels being exactly the same seems real odd to me. Since support doesn't seem to be willing to send anybody out, can I just go to the office to pick up a different gateway to swap out - or do I need a service call to do that? Any suggestions? As of right now, I am at the point where I am willing to take the speed hit or downgrade my Internet package just so I could go back to the old EMTA that worked. The only thing I did not try was putting the gateway into Bridge mode and going back to the old router - I didn't do that because from what I read on Comcast's and other message boards that option is pretty much a useless one. Anyone here have problems bridging these new gateways?

[Equip] Using Cisco DPC3941 in Bridge Mode..

So what's the trick to get this device to work in bridge mode and allow a 3rd party router to get an IP and act as the router/gateway? I tried four different routers : Asus RT-65U, Netgear WNDR4300, Linksys EA6200, and Netgear WNR3500 (SamKnows). While all would show active connections via the ethernet lights, none would actually get an IP from Comcast - all ended up with 0.0.0.0 and subsequently no Internet connection. I have been able to get a working IP if I direct connect a PC to the gateway while in bridge mode. Did this with three different PCs. It's just the routers don't seem to work. Yes.. I did a complete power cycle of the gateway each time I connected a new device. Yes.. I was using only port #1 to make the connection when in bridge mode. Yes.. I even tried cloning the MAC address to match one of the PC's that was pulling an IP. That failed to work also. Not sure what else to do. There has to be a solution other than driving back and forth to the retail center (that now moved much farther away than where it was) and hoping the replacement works. I don't see how on a brand-new device everything would work except for one "feature".. Do I need to call into support to have them do something on their end to make this work? If so, is there a number I can call that will not get me one of their overseas call centers with people who can barely speak English and will not deviate one bit from the script that they read? It's really frustrating waiting for the rep to end their 2-3 minute spiel each time when a simple "yes" or "no" or "let me check" would have sufficed.

[Speed] Is internet speed affected by amount of usage in neighborhood ?

Every evening, especially on weekends, my internet speed is unacceptably low. From around dinner time until late evening I am barely getting a download speed of 20 if that...however I usually go online about midnight to 1 am and during that time my speeds are always close to 150, which is what is should be based on my plan. Is Comcast's internet speed affected that dramatically depending on how many of my neighbors are on at the same time ?

When will upload speeds finally improve?

How long has it been 10mb upload? How often does comcast ugprade upload speeds? It seems long over due. The blast tier should be at least 20 by now.
