Comcast can put pop-up messages on your screen when you're online. They've done this in the past to warn customers who are downloading too much. I'm getting notifications now that my modem is old and needs to be replaced by December 2nd.
Although ipconfig /all shows that I have an IP address of 76.27.229.xxx, websites I visit don't see this address. Instead, they see 68.87.69.227, and "Proxy: 68.87.69.2291.1 bvrt-notify01.beaverton.or.bverton.comcast.net (squid/3.1.16-20111129-r10400)". So I'm on a Comcast squid proxy server thing.
This means that I can't visit websites that don't allow you to connect through a proxy.
How can I get off the Comcast proxy? I don't need to be on it. I don't want to be on it. I don't need to be told more than once that my modem will not work after December 2nd.
Why should this be happening?
