Sony uses both Akamai Networks and Limelight Networks to serve files downloaded on their PSN (PS3 and PS4). Lately I've seen both really slow downloads and really fast ones.
Today I was trying to download a 2.83 GB game over a Blast Connection and it told me it would take 3 hours and it was downloading on average at 2 Mbps or slower. It was downloading from Akamai Networks according to my router logs. I let it run for awhile, but other than the rare boost up to around 9 Mbps for a second or two, it didn't get any faster.
I paused and resumed and it told me it would finish in 8 minutes and was downloading around 40 Mbps. I checked and it was downloading from Limelight Networks. (Ironic as I was having very slow downloads from Limelights several years ago).
As far as I'm aware Akamai shouldn't be that slow, so something must be wrong. Is there a way to do a speed test for Akamai Networks?
