[CDV] Phone Modem Problem

Here's my problem-Parents already using a Wireless Gateway modem for Internet. Their separate Arris Phone is End of Life so they called Comcast and they sent them another Wireless Gateway (Technicolor) I believe. Been having trouble getting dial tone on Handset. Display reads "Check Tel Line" here only myself when pressing talk button on handset. Does this Gateway modem work only for Phone? Or did they send me wrong one? I was using Arris Telephony 502G. Any help is appreciated.
