I'm considering switching from 6Mbps DSL to Starter Business at 16/3. In talking to the local rep (who has been very helpful and seems generally knowledgeable), he mentioned the business side "phasing out" the starter tier altogether. I asked for clarification and he said they will no longer be offering that speed at all, starting sometime in the next few months. This was in reply to my questions about a potential speed bump, much like residential customers have been seeing recently.
Anyone here have any knowledge of this? I'm trying to decide if I should jump on the $69 Starter plan now, or if this is just hot air. I'm speculating they might discontinue the 16/3 and implement a new "base model" plan at maybe 25/5 or similar speeds. Kind of like the bump they recently did which became the current 50/10 plan. If I grab the 16/3 now, I can always upgrade to the new plan if I like it. If I don't grab it now, it may be gone.
Does this seem reasonable? Or is he just trying to hurry me along?
