Trying to get a faster speed and finding out that only triple play customers (and a lucky few) get the free upgrade to 105 I decided to pay the extra $13 and just do it.
I called and switched packages and the lady told me I may have to rent a modem from them if mine couldn't do it. (Motorola SB6121) but processed everything and told me to call them if I don't have the speed after unplugging it.
So I waited.. no email confirming the order. I called back and verified I was on the new tier. I then was transferred to a "technician" which sounded like she just learned how to put the square block in the square hole yesterday.
She said sometimes modems take a while to get up to speed. Asked how long I have had the modem. I said about a year. I explained that I need the config file sent to the modem... she asked if a tech had come to the house and checked the wires. I said he had not and the first lady said it would just work after the provisioning. She said Oh no, they need to come and run fiber to your modem. I asked "Is there a fiber input on the modem" she said they just need it to the outside.
So the question.... Must I have a truck roll and really have fiber installed somewhere? Is there a "good" tech number to call that knows what's going on? (assuming she is misinformed)
