In Houston, TX, I have a new installation of Comcast Business Internet with phone service. Comcast installed a Netgear CG3000DCR modem and an Arris modem for the voice lines. The Arris device was left with a single 3' piece of CAT5 cable plugged into three analog ports and unterminated on the other end.
The office is wired with 1 CAT5 cable per room for Ethernet. These are terminated at a GigEther switch that is uplinked to the Netgear.
I would like to install the Cisco IP phones that I already have on each Ethernet jack and then plug the computers into the IP phones.
I was told by Comcast that I don't need the Arris if I am going to use the Cisco phones. All I need to do is plug the phones in and configure the Netgear and IP phones properly. They will come pick up the Arris phone later.
I cannot find a manual for the Netgear CG3000DCR, nor can I find a tutorial on configuring this device.
How can complete the installation? Do I need to get a VLAN switch and two routers to split the traffic between two ports on the Netgear? Where do I find a manual or configuration examples for the Netgear?
