I am modeling xfinity packages as I am thinking of switching to this service. When I go through on the web, it tells me I need a "digital voice modem" for $8/month. Couple questions on this if you'd be so kind:
1. Is this a separate unit from the router?
2. If so, does this mean they provide the router but it's at no charge?
3. If so, what does this digital voice modem do/what is it used for?

Being snowbound in sub zero temps has made my life simpler as I hear the mainstream news and our President. I have converted to liberalism.
