As a follow-up from a similar post last summer @ http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r27473499-Speed-Heads-Up-Time-to-Replace-Your-DOCSIS-1.1-Modem - if you have a DOCSIS 2.0 device it is time to think about upgrading it.
At Comcast, we actively work to provide a great broadband experience to our Xfinity Internet customers. As part of that, we regularly increase the broadband speeds for our customers. As a result, customers using DOCSIS 2.0 devices will increasingly be unable to enjoy the fullest possible broadband speeds.
We have been sending notifications to customers using DOCSIS 2.0 modems if they are on a tier where a D2.0 device cannot deliver on the advertised speeds with instructions on the upgrade process.
LEASED DEVICES:
Customers that lease a D2.0 device are asked to request a device upgrade at http://www.comcast.com/deviceupgrade/?SCRedirect=true -- feel free to do so now.
OWNED (RETAIL) DEVICES:
Customers that own a D2.0 device are urged to replace it with a D3.0 device. A suggested list of retail devices is at http://mynewmodem.comcast.net/.
A D3.0 device will enable you to take advantage of channel bonding (better/higher speeds) and IPv6, among other benefits.
Finally, if you for some reason are one of the small number of customers that still have a D1.1 device, please upgrade ASAP.
Thanks!
Jason
