I've been hopping back and forth between Cable and DSL for Internet connectivity over the years depending on which service offers the best price to performance ratio. For the past 3 years I've been on VDSL2 40/20 service, but with Comcast recently bumping the Blast! tier up to 105/10, I'm ready to make the jump back over to the other evil empire until FTTP becomes a reality.
I've already purchased an Arris SB6183 16x4 modem, and live in a relatively new condominium with all internal coax in-place and ready to go.
So, my question is, what is the best way to place the order? I only need a few things from Comcast:
- A Tech needs to be dispatched to patch the coax feeding my unit into the splitter at the main feed for the building
- Need an account or whatever else is necessary to get the modem activated at the Walled Garden
- The correct high speed configuration file needs to be delivered to the modem
Beyond that, I don't need or want anything from Comcast. I don't want the upsells to phone and TV service, I don't want the connection kit, and I don't want the hassles of messed up billing.
What are your suggestions for the best way to accomplish this?
Thanks in advance!
