Got the arris tg862. Installed and works fine. The xf preferred pkg. calls for performance tier speed, about 25Mbps. But when I tested the speed, I found that we now get 50Mbps. Looked at the bill and sure enough, we now have the Blast tier. It was probably recently incorporated and that's why we were getting robo calls to upgrade. Cool.
Not much to control in router settings. I don't see an option to stop broadcasting ssid and, as someone said, this model cannot be bridged manually.
I'm concerned about Wireless connections that weren't on the list before. SSID, xfinity is on the list and is unsecured.
I've been reading about comcast letting it's customers use other costomers wireless network by broadcasting another ssid. Do you think that is going on now? Is my modem capable of that?
