I am building a home at the back side of a new development. I have considered Business class (as a cable-cutter) to avoid any potential usage metering as an avid streaming media user though I am open to the idea of residential service.
When attempting to qualify my address, i'm not able to do so via the residential method, and upon contacting Business Class ordering they are requiring me to sign a 3 year service commitment (though it says 2 year minimum on the contract) just to come out and perform a site survey. My home builder pointed out that there are no comcast "boxes" anywhere in the back side of the neighborhood where no homes actually exist though several are in the progress of being built. The CSR indicated that they would run cable if it's feasible, and provided a contract with a $49 installation charge and a $119/month service charge for 50/10 service.
I am told that I have 30 days to cancel after I order and it is connected. i do not expect the home to be ready for another 60 days though the CSR indicated it can sometimes take up to 90 days to build out wiring for the neighborhood.
My question is, what if I decide the cost of business class isn't worth the price? Could i simply cancel and switch to residential? Is there an easier way to request a site survey without having to sign a contract simply to get someone to tell me if service is/will be available within the next 60-90 days?
Thanks guys!
Silvio
