I am consistently showing bursts of 50-100% packet loss and ping times of 1000 - 2500 ms on my internet link. I am running PingPlotter with a sample every 15 seconds, pinging out to the first Comcast backbone node which is 4 hops.
All my packet loss and long ping times come from the first hop, which is my local node, c-75-75-20-1.hsd1.va.comcast.net. I see up to 15 second bursts of 100% packet loss at this node every 90 minutes and long ping times of over 1000 ms about every 30 minutes, on average. I had two tech service calls last week and the last tech checked every segment of my cable from modem to pedestal and said there was noise on the Comcast end. I will admit that the packet loss was up to an hour at a time for several days and then dropped to its current level.
Should I be concerned about this performance, and if so, how do I get it resolved?
