[Firmware] Comcast Gateway DPC3941T Firmwire

$

Hi All Did a factory reset of modem earlier this week after scanning all the systems with various programs to possibly get rid of utopia.net, still remains, but didn't find any trace of infection any system, anyways during the factory reset modem got 2.6p1s1_PROD-Sey, then following night downgraded itself to 2.5p2s1_Prod-sey, is it gonna downgrade itself again? Called Comcast this morning in relation to the modem/all services going down, Tech sent updates to TV boxes, and The Gateway, and got the 2.6 firmwire again I just hope this time stays on there, doesn't downgrade again, and connection stays stable and fast

[Equip] Using a FIOS G1100 WiFi router with Xfinity DOCSIS 3.0 Router?

Hello all, I just went through the FAQ and other posts but didn't see this asked and answered. I am sorry if my search was insufficient or if I read something that I didn't understand. I am moving from Verizon FIOS service area to California where there is none. I will have Comcast Xfinity service and I intend to buy the equipment myself to save on costs over 1-2 years. I have a FIOS G1100 router with me that is 802.11ac. I am wondering if I can buy a used DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem from ebay.com and use with it? 1. Would I just use the WAN port of the G1100 to connect to the modem? 2. Does it matter which cable modem I get (I am planning for 100 mbps service, BTW). I am looking at Arris SB6141 or Zoom 5341J hoping to spend less than $40. 3. Basically, does the cable modem have a DHCP server that will interfere with the external router? 4. Would the Xfinity-cable modem not play nice with the G1100 unless I change some setting on the router? 5. I will additionally get basic TV service (10+ channels perhaps) and use a Vonage phone adapter via LAN to the router. Thanks so much. Any pointer is appreciated.

Cisco DPC3941T won't sign in to Xfi. (ie; internet.xfinity.com)

Cisco DPC3941T won't sign in to Xfi. I can sign into my wireless gateway Cisco DPC3941T, that displays the standard xfinity gateway web page and function, but When I try to sign in to internet.xfinity.com/ page. (Wanted to access their cool new nicknaming devices, and monitoring traffic functions) I still get the message "Sorry, We're Having Some Trouble" I installed the xfinity Wifi app for adroid, and during installation is says "Let;s activate your modem" at which point I stopped. If I am able to use my modem and amd getting good broadband connection, is't my modem already activated? Would activating it with my wireless app cause changes to the config? thanks! Bonus round: Repeated "talks" with Comcast "help" and their "Techs" have not yielded anything of note.

[Price] Existing customer plan pricing

The first of two discounts expires in July on my current Xfinity package. Triple Play base is 159.95 + hardware and taxes which adds up to 212.31. This includes the router, dvr, and two satellite units. In July the above base will increase to around 185.00 approximately. My intent is is to redo my plan at that time and drop all premium channels and maintain as much of the rest of the channel package as possible with the exception of sports channels. My current "grandfathered" package has everything including the proverbial kitchen sink, much of which we can dump at this juncture. Due to the fluctuating packages Comcast offers, it is impossible to get a reasonable estimate either online or from telephone CS agents. Zip code is 08033 if that helps. Getting 230+ d/l and 11+ u/l speeds. Currently planning to keep our landline for the foreseeable future so a new Triple Play without the premiums is my ultimate aim. Would greatly appreciate any (what I know can only be) estimates at this juncture. First discount expires 7/11 and I was told to call back on 7/7 to discuss changes so as not to be billed at increased rate. They were clear that nothing could be done prior to that date! Thanks in advance.

Decent Stable Router Suggestion

I'm looking at replacing my leased modem/router and I've got a pretty decent idea about the Arris's Modem that was suggested here. I'm now actually looking for a decent and stable router suggestion. Reason being, I'm going to buy a Linksys Router and flash it with DD-WRT and what not and heard that router had some issues as well, while I work on that, I need my internet connection up so thinking of looking at an extra solid router. Any help would be appreciated.

[Firmware] How to update to mythical 2.6 firmware for the Cisco DPC3941T?

$

After dozens of tries, I was told, or rather saw in one of these threads, that the reason I could not sign in to my new, cool, trendy Xfi service where I could nickname all users on my network and monitor them, was because I need a very recent software/firmware (2.6?) update. Is there a way to do this without factory resetting my Cisco DPC3941T? Thanks! RR

Unverified Sender?

$

I have a client who has his own domain name and has been sending email from his home Comcast connection for years without incident, using his domain's SMTP sever. Last week his outgoing emails to one recipient began to bounce back, rejected by Senderbase as "554 SBRS score too low". I suggested he change to using the Comcast SMTP server and that at least allowed the emails to get through but each email is then branded in the Subject line as [Unverified Sender]. He's got everything set up correctly in Outlook, including using his Comcast account's login and password for the Outgoing Server tab. I can see that Comcast has a way to "verify" this sort of situation if he had a Business Account but nothing for residential accounts. Any suggestions on how to "verify" him or do you think this is an issue at the recipient's end?

[CustSvc] Why is it so hard to get a problem resolved with Comcast?

$

I've been having outtages very frequently for a little over a month now, they said they would be fixing it so I waited, it became far worse today so I called them, they set a reset signal and it worked fine for several minutes before the call support noticed and his words "Everything is all red on my end." so he scheduled a technician but all I got as an answer was "Keep your availability open from now (June 2nd) until Thusday (June 8th)" With as much as I pay this company for internet and it being one of my main sources of income, combined with working a job that is 6 am to 4 pm. It's just about impossible to actually get anything resolved when their schedule windows are so open. I know it's probably not easy to find technicians to work for Comcast. The problem is all ISPs are like this, I'm not expecting same day technician service, but I at least don't expect to be told to just keep waiting for an entire week and we will contact you whenever. They have a tendency to not leave a message as I have my phone entirely off during working hours.

[Equip] Modem showdown. Best, Comcast, & Comcast-compatible modem?

I know that so far Comcast is offering the following: - ARRIS TG862 Residential Gateway & Router (Had it. it was OK I guess) - Cisco DPC3941T (Have it no . cool except for the lack support for 2.6 RDK-B firmware) - Cisco DPC3939 XB3 Wireless Voice Gateway It got horrible reviews. ( I am assuming it is the same "XB3"since Xfinity is not saying what the "XB3" is exactly) Any other pros and cons,? Also: Any opinions on Comcast compatible modem/routers offered by outside companies? Thanks!

Comcast business equipment fee question

I was wondering how to avoid this fee. It is about $15 a month. Originally I had 2 voice lines and internet. The equipment I have is a comcast router/modem and a voice adapter (analog to digital). The adapter was mandatory and could not be bought or replaced by myself, but now I have the voice lines on another telecom. I only have internet with them now. I looked at the recommend router/modems and all of them are $100+. What would you guys recommend or can I even avoid this fee?

[NodePlus0] General Discussion of N+0 deployment activity

$

I would like to start a thread where we can keep track of the areas where Comcast has started deploying N+0 equipment. Earlier this year Comcast started pushing fiber deeper into the neighborhoods around me but close to 10 months after it was strung/buried it is still sitting unspliced and unlit. The comcast plant in my area is an old Adelphia region that is built on a 750MHz architecture so it's due for upgrade but it appears as if comcast is stalling on these upgrades for some reason. Has anyone else noticed any aggressive node splits and/or amplifier reduction in any other markets?

[Business] WAAAY more retail modems are now compatible with Business Class

Just saw this recently. They've added tons of new retail modems to the BCI compatibility list. A MAJOR improvement from when I was on BCI last year. This is pretty close to parity with residential modems. [att=1] https://business.comcast.com/help-and-support/internet/comcast-business-cable-modem-device-compatibility

How reliable is Comcast DNS and how to verify up/down?

$

Midway through Monday morning I get a call saying that my office can't connect to the internet. I talk them through all the usual stuff and the SMC gateway takes 2 reboots before it will connect and can't get anywhere else with them except to verify that their shared folders are accessible so I'm reasonably sure it is outside our network. Comcast tech support assures the boss that they are up and can see our modem. When I get onsite all machines will appear to connect to, say, Google but then won't go anywhere else. I manually assign each machine to another public DNS besides Comcast's and everything works properly. I've run DNS Jumper in the distant past when we were experimenting with OpenDNS and Comcast's servers were the fastest. How do I keep track of how reliable the Comcast servers really are and where do I go to verify up/down the next time we have a problem?

[Speed] Net Slowdown in the Henrico, VA West End, during the Night

Hello, this is my first time posting here, but I need to try every approach to resolve this issue. Any advice or information, would be greatly welcomed! I have spent hours on the chats with Xfinity Tech Support, three Xfinity Service visits, and also a conversation with Arris Tech Support (which lead me to believe more than ever, it is Xfinity that ultimately needs to makes this right). 1) Your location: Henrico, VA (West End) USA. I recently moved to an apartment complex, where Xfinity is the only broadband option. Before that, my house had Verizon FiOS so I'm familiarizing myself with Comcast. 2) A description of the problem: there is a noticeable slowdown in connection speeds (particularly downloads) at night. I pay for a 200Mbs D/10Mbs U service, which is included in my Triple Play package. In the mornings, the speeds are satisfactory. 3) Is the issue intermittent, constant or does it occur at a specific time of day? I have noticed it becoming a routine, nightly problem after 7/8pm and seems to persist until when I wake up, after 6am or so. 4) Your modem make, model & firmware version: ARRIS Group, Inc. Surfboard SVG2482AC ... my understanding is the firmware/other updates are done through Xfinity, but the info I can find off the console is as follows: HW Version:11.0, BOOT Version:4.2.0.45, and Core Version:10.0.X 5) Describe any home networking if applicable. (i.e. routers, hubs, adapters, etc.) I do have a Linksys AC1200 Amplify extender, upstairs. 6) List any firewall and/or anti-virus software you have installed. Include what version you have. Norton, running the latest definitions The technicians have replaced splitters, and my cable now runs to two cable jacks inside my residence after today's 3rd service call. They say they have done everything they can to boost the signal to my gateway/modem. They have attributed the issues to my using the Arris Surfboard, which I purchased just a month ago. Just to be on the safe side, I had it exchanged for another, and read some values from the Xfinity Network on my control console to Arris tech support. Arris said the Downstream Power Levels were not optimal. I have run a battery of speedtests from several sites, including here. They have been all over the place, but mainly unacceptably slow in the evening hours. Here's a sample of some recent tests: http://disq.us/url?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.dslreports.com%2Fspeedtest%2F16450026%3APK4RfrRVy6eUxaWUd4QWUTUJcjA&cuid=4549889 http://disq.us/url?url=http%3A%2F%2Fimgur.com%2Fa%2F4Szv3%3AxjBTCHOcVqMiLbmgBiVtRy-sBf8&cuid=4549889 http://disq.us/url?url=http%3A%2F%2Fimgur.com%2Fa%2FRA4gt%3Ac9LIQUC24IXjVQR32BWRNctQJRk&cuid=4549889

[Business] Is Comcast more focused on residential than business customers?

My name is Andrea Rumbaugh, and I'm a reporter with the Houston Chronicle. Comcast recently announced that it will deliver speeds up to one gigabit-per-second to its residential customers in Houston. Some business customers have complained, saying that Comcast hasn't increased speed tiers for business customers as frequently as it has for residential customers. I'm trying to see if this is true/how many business owners feel this way. I'm specifically looking to interview Comcast Business customers in the Houston area. If you're in Houston and have thought that Comcast is giving residential customers better speeds than business customers, please email me at andrea.rumbaugh@chron.com. Thank you!

Report DOCSIS 3.1 Gigabit Service Question

I had service installed a few days ago and I'm getting the full gigabit on speed tests. I have one question though: Should my Arris XB6 (comcast gateway) be bonding downstream channels 1-9? For some reason it's only bonding channels 9-25 on the downstream. It doesn't really matter if it's stable I suppose, I'm just curious. All the levels look good on the channels that are bonded.

[CDV] why does Comcast phone suck so bad ?

$

Just an overview. In a test we called both phones. One is ATT wireless phone, another is Magic jack , and yet another is Phone Power. MJ and phone power had missed one 1-2 calls we tested, and it sounded like an idle time issue. ATT phone missed 3 calls but they made it vm Comcast missed 10 calls and didnt make it vm. Now ATT wireless offers telemarketer protection by simply hitting a field. MJ offers it for business accounts, and so does phone power even for personal. Comcast requires lengthy steps. Which is pathetic. Comcast cant have a single field like a real phone company? Its actually cheaper to get a ATT prepaid phone for a home , then Comcast.
